tbh im so so so so so tired of people appropriating the word trans and stripping it of all meaning with their “you don’t have to have dysphoria to be trans uwu uwu uwuwhwiueh” bullshit and like, i didn’t care when it was just kids on a blogging website but this shit is trickling over into spaces where it can do actual harm like rl activism and that’s actually terrifying

the sj culture people have created in currently popular activism where everyone even marginally privileged is literally the devil causes people who are 100% cis to feel the need to identify as trans even though they’re completely non-dysphoric and most of the time you can toss a good amount of internalised misogyny in there too since it’s mostly teen girls doing it

like??? there is a difference between not having everything figured out and not being sure about how you relate to your assigned sex and gender and the people who are literally proudly toting around how completely nondysphoric and still super trans they are and it’s making me furious in a way i can’t even explain

that kind of thinking is fucked up for several reasons:

it takes a word that describes a medical condition and therefore obviously has a lot of import and weight to the people it actually describes (AKA PEOPLE WITH DYSPHORIA) and completely strips it of its intended purpose, making it pretty much useless (seriously, if these people screamed about how they were totes OCD because they’re rly neat sometimes you’d be up in arms but somehow with the word trans it’s okay?)

it’s part of this line of thinking where people will violently disagree that being trans could in any way be considered a medical condition because gosh there’s nothing wrong with trans people!! they totes deserve respect and shouldn’t be treated bad because being trans is natural!! and that’s ableist and insulting as fuck because there’s nothing wrong with disabled people either and they deserve respect and shouldn’t be treated badly either and if you are reluctant to be in any way identified as disabled then you need to re-examine why you hate disabled people so much and why it makes you so angry or uncomfortable to be considered disabled.
personally i don’t see how a complete disconnect in the way my brain experiences my sex and gender in relation to how it actually manifests itself isn’t a medical condition but hey it goes hand in hand with people thinking dysphoria doesn’t determine whether you’re trans or not so why am i even surprised

that line of thinking also popularises a definition of cis that surmises that cis people are comfortable with their assigned gender or agree with their assigned gender which is bullshit
cis people are people who don’t experience dysphoria, that’s all
gender is literally a set of roles made up by society which means that like 2% of the population is actually comfortable with it (hint: straight white able-bodied neurotypical cis guys) and considering more than enough women struggle with their gender, especially if they are gender non-conforming, women of colour, disabled or non-het that kind of definition is actually incredibly insulting to the struggle they go through and the misogyny they experience
gender is specifically something that is forced upon us by the patriarchy. it isn’t natural or biologically innate and it didn’t fall down from the gender tree one morning, it was made up to materially exploit one class of people at the benefit of another class. saying that any person, even binary identified people, could ever be comfortable in this system, is also saying that the system isn’t fundamentally fucked up and needs to go, which it does, so, uh

and telling young teenage girls who are struggling with internalised misogyny to just reject their girlhood or whatever because they can always be non-binary is so fucking damaging i don’t even know where to start like how the fuck does anyone think this is okay

if your gender identity is literally only based on a list of stereotypical behaviours that are commonly expected from men or women that you don’t feel any connection with, then congrats, you are part of the vast vast majority of the world that is uncomfortable with the gender roles they’re forced in
still doesn’t make you trans

i’m rambling at this point and idk where i am going with this so basically every single time i see these people talking about how “everyone can be trans uwuwuw u don’t need dysphoria uwuwuwu just reject cisness wuuwuwuwu because it’s evil uwuwuwuwuuuuuuuu” i think of the time i spent 2 hours crying in the bathroom because i got my period or the nights where i have to wear my binder to bed even when no one is around because i can’t even deal with feeling my breasts when i lie down and it feels like they’re spitting in the face of these experiences and everything that comes with it

fuck these people seriously

[Well I had intended to draw more stupid stuff anyway.I’m pretty sure it was a glitch, it certainly looked like one, but Grunt’s head just snapped up when Miranda said that during her loyalty mission. It’s just super relevant so, glitch or not, it’s one of those moments that’s really stuck with me.]

JESSE EISENBERG: People on the street say mean things to me.
INTERVIEWER: Like what?
JESSE EISENBERG: I get called Napoleon Dynamite because I have curly hair. I live in New York City and I ride a bicycle. I always bike down 9th Avenue and there’s this kid who goes to school there named Abraham. Every time I pass him, he calls me Napoleon Dynamite. He screams it out and his friends laugh. That was a fine movie but I wasn’t in it.
INTERVIEWER: What do you say back?
JESSE EISENBERG: I say, “Please, Abraham, I’m not that man.”
